Adult Ministries
J.O.Y. Ministry
Our Senior Adults get together through the J.O.Y. Ministry a number of times a year to celebrate seasonal events, take mini trips, bring in speakers and generally fellowship together. J.O.Y. stands for “Just Older Youth.” This ministry is led by John and Charlotte Edmonson.
Men’s Ministry Breakfast
Our Men’s Ministry is back in action and meets monthly with Saturday breakfast in the fellowship hall of our church. Each breakfast will take place the last Saturday morning of every month at 8 am. If you have any interest in joining this breakfast, we encourage you to come and bring a friend. Cost is on a donation only basis.
Adult Bible Study
Bible Study is the gathering ministry of the church. It allows people to become an active part of the Gateway Fellowship family. Through Bible Study, members make friends with others in the church body. Small group Bible study is where adults grow and lean on each other during the highs and lows of life.
Church Softball
Gateway has several teams that participate in the Full Gospel Church Softball League in Mesa, AZ. Leagues run year-round and teams are available for all levels of competition. The FGCSL is an ASA registered, Christian recreational organization dedicated to the Gospel of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and to furthering His ministry by offering churches in the area surrounding Mesa, AZ the opportunity to come together and play slow-pitch softball. The league consists of five Men’s divisions and one Co-Rec division playing at Red Mountain Park, Skyline Park, and Riverview Park on Saturdays during 3 separate “seasons”. The 700+ players on the 48 teams that participate in our league, represent 24 different churches in the East Valley. Bill Lehman runs this ministry.
Hiking
Everyone needs to rest and refresh which is why God gave us the Sabbath. This refreshing recreational ministry of Gateway Fellowship consists of different hiking activities for men and women. Presently, we get together informally to do day hikes. There is a May hike planned to Havasupai Falls and campground. Spots are limited. Contact the church office for information (480-892-4711).
Gateway Running Ministry
A group of Gateway members recently started the running ministry as a path to friendship and better health. The running ministry meets several times weekly to go on 3-5 mile runs near the church. Last year, members of the running ministry competed in the ASU Twilight 5K, Aflac Iron Girl 5K and 10 mile, PF Chang’s Full and Half Marathon, Regner Relay, Lost Duchman 10 K, and San Diego Full and Half Marathon. The Running Ministry continues to train for future events and welcomes both men and women to come run for better health. Matt Clark is the contact person for this ministry.
Motorcycle Ministry (Gateway Good News Riders)
The Gateway Good News Riders is one of the newer additions to Gateway’s family activities.
Those who love to ride the open roads get together to travel around the state on day
trips and have even made a couple of three day trips to explore other parts of this great country. As they go, they share the love of Christ with those they meet along the way. In general they have a ride each month on the first Tuesday, the third Saturday, and a dinner ride on the second Tuesday. See the calendar page for upcoming rides.
Gary Lebsack is the contact person for this ministry. Contact him at 480 629-5240 or 480-458-8751.
Peace by Piece Quilting Ministry
We invite you to join us as we make quilts for two local charities and our Gateway church families. Experienced sewers and quilters are encouraged to join us. However, no sewing experience is necessary–you may help cut fabric, put kits together, layer kits for sewing or press quilt tops. We use donated fabric and request donations from church members and others as fabric is needed. You may bring your own sewing, knitting, crochet or other projects to work on in our comfortable social setting. The group meets from 9 a.m. until noon or later the second Tuesday and Wednesday of each month. Each participant usually brings a sack lunch if she/he plans to stay and work in the afternoon. For more information you may contact the church office at (480) 892-4711
